I was admitted to the University of Michigan College of Engineering Honors Program in my second year, which has been an invaluable journey in my undergraduate career. The program has provided me with enriching opportunities, including attending Honors Seminars, participating in the LeaderShape Institute, and embarking on a capstone project that challenged me both personally and academically. Through workshops and events focused on personal and professional growth, I have developed meaningful connections with peers and mentors who have shaped my path at Michigan. This page showcases key highlights from my honors experience and reflects the lasting impact this community has had on my time at the university.
Honors Plan
Start of my Honors Developmental Plan
1. Apply EECS 442 Skills to MAAV
Take advantage of the skills I learn in my EECS 442 Computer Vision class to contribute better to MAAV (my student project team). I will do this by taking attentive notes during class and staying engaged with each lecture to ensure a strong grasp of fundamental material I plan to research.
2. Reduce Weekly Screen Time
Reduce my weekly screen time on both my computer and phone to minimize procrastination. To start, I will read a few pages from my book list each night before bed, gradually decreasing my phone usage. I hope this habit translates to reduced screen time during work hours as well.
Personal Philosophy Statement
In the journey of life, I see myself as a committed partner, aiming to nurture a meaningful marriage built on loyalty, hard work, and mutual respect. With every endeavor, I strive for discipline and perseverance, believing that integrity and effort are essential to achieving lasting fulfillment.
Kindness and respect are the cornerstones of my interactions with others. Guided by the principle of treating others as I wish to be treated, I hope to set an example for my future children. I approach each day as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, to appreciate the moments I have, and to leave a positive legacy for those around me and for generations to come.
My ambition is grounded in a commitment to excellence in my career. However, I recognize that true success is not solely defined by professional achievements but by the strength of my relationships and the positive influence I have on others. I aspire to be remembered not for accolades, but for the depth of my connections and the kindness I've shared.
Beyond personal aspirations, I am dedicated to contributing to a better world. I feel a responsibility to address pressing issues like hunger, conflict, and injustice. Through meaningful actions and advocacy, I aim to play a role, however small, in fostering positive change. One key focus is my commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a society moving toward shared progress.
Family holds unmatched significance in my life, and I hope to balance my ambitions with the joy of building a future family rooted in love, understanding, and support. I believe that blending career and personal passions enriches life, and I seek to embrace diverse experiences that inspire growth and fulfillment.
At its core, my personal philosophy rests on integrity, compassion, and ambition. I aspire to lead a life defined by meaningful connections, purposeful endeavors, and a steadfast commitment to leaving the world a better place than I found it.
Honors Capstone/Thesis Project
Epidemiology, the study of understanding how diseases spread, their causes, and their impact on populations,
has gained unprecedented importance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Accurate epidemic forecasting is
crucial for decision-making in public health policy, economic impact assessment, and global preparedness.
The CDC accepts collaborative forecasting submissions. Our goal is to deliver consistent, accurate predictions
to aid in critical decision-making.
Our Research objectives were:
- Developing and evaluating time-series forecasting models using real-world COVID-19 data across the U.S. to enhance epidemic forecasting.
- Establishing a systematic pipeline for training, optimizing, and evaluating models in real-world epidemic forecasting scenarios.
My Honors Capstone Project on epidemic forecasting.
